Android TV devices are set-top boxes that are fully certified by Google. The company guarantees that such devices operate stably for at least three years. These set-top boxes receive regular operating system and security protocol updates.

The devices come with pre-installed licensed apps from Google. Users can access Google Play with over 7,000 apps and games.

AOSP set-top boxes are powered by the freeware Android OS. Their developers configure the firmware at their discretion, resulting in possible freezes and crashes.
